Hyer Seeks Applications for Parliament Hill Summer Student Jobs House of Commons positions open to full-time secondary or post-secondary students

OTTAWA – Thunder Bay–Superior North MP Bruce Hyer today announced that the House of Commons is hiring full-time students to fill various summer positions in office administration, operational work, information technology, and research.
Hyer said “Working on the Parliament Hill, at the centre of governance in Canada, is a unique experience for students. It’s an opportunity to discover and learn about how laws are made and about the business of the House of Commons, all while gaining new skills.”
The Summer Student Employment Program at the House of Commons regularly hires students for summer positions, and this year approximately 40 positions are open to students from across the country under the program. Applicants must be fluent in English and French, a full-time student (secondary or post-secondary) and have full-time status in a recognized institution, as well as be registered as a full-time student in their next academic term. Rates of pay are based on the number of completed years of education:
• High school – $11.17 per hour
• College – $12.05 to $15.23 per hour
• University – $13.57 to $19.04 per hour
Hyer said “I am very happy to help students navigate the application process. My office staff are available to assist any students from our region who wish to apply.”
